As a born native of Jamaica, for many years we have used Sea Moss gel in our foods and beverages as a thickener and to enhance consistency.

Our mission is simple – to share with you and provide easy access to a wonderful vegan food product that our family has used for generations, for many, many years.

We strive for excellence and our customers’ delight and satisfaction.

Our vision is to be a premier seller of Sea Moss in North Carolina, South Carolina, and other parts of the United States where the product is not readily available.

What is Sea Moss?

Sea Moss is an edible seaweed and there are several species; Sea Moss is scientifically known as Chondrus Crispus, Genus Gracilaria, Kappaphycus, and Eucheuma Cottonii, and is also locally called Irish Moss in Jamaica. It comes in varying colors, for example, gold, purple, green, and red. Purple sea moss is associated with other purple and blue vegetables and fruits.

Our Sea Moss is raw wild-harvested, meaning we harvest it from its natural “wild” habitat in the sea, where it is grown in the warm pristine waters of the Caribbean, never fertilized, never bleached with any chemicals, no additives, dyes, pesticides or preservatives, completely nurtured and sustained by the sea from which it is harvested, then dried by the sun.

Our high quality is acquired by our rigorous attention to quality control and dedication to ethical continuous harvesting and processing.

How is Sea Moss used?

Sea Moss is known for its economic and important use in foods. The most common way of consuming Sea Moss is by making it into a gel that is a GREAT addition to tea, other hot and cold beverages and a number of recipes, or you can take a spoonful by itself. Suggested methods used by some are blending and boiling.

  1. Rinse Sea Moss thoroughly with purified, filtered, alkaline or spring water, washing away any sea debris, dirt or particles from the sea.
  2. Place the cleaned Sea Moss in a bowl and cover it with fresh purified filtered, alkaline or spring water. Make sure all the parts of the sea moss are covered. Cover the bowl and let it soak for at least 12-24 hours until it is soft (gelatinous). You can leave it on the counter covered at room temperature. You do not need to soak the sea moss in the refrigerator. If you wish, you may add limes and/or lemons to reduce the ocean salt, ocean smell and ocean taste.
  3. Once it is done soaking it will have expanded as it has absorbed the water. It is now ready for blending or boiling.

Blending

  1. Place the soaked Sea Moss with its purified, filtered, alkaline or spring water into a blender; the recommended ratio of 1 cup of Sea Moss to 1 – 1.5 cups of the water. Keep in mind that the less water you add, the more concentrated and thicker the gel will be.
  2. On high speed, blend for about 2-4 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add more water, if you wish the mixture to be thinner (optional)
  4. Place the Sea Moss into an airtight container or mason jar and refrigerate. The sea moss gel will thicken in the fridge after approximately 2 hours.

Boiling

  1. Place the soaked Sea Moss with its purified, filtered, alkaline or spring water into a saucepan; the recommended ratio of 1 cup of Sea Moss to 1 – 1.5 cups of the purified or spring water. Keep in mind that the less water you add, the more concentrated and thicker the gel will be.
  2. Bring it to a low boil over medium heat then reduce it to a simmer on low flame for 15-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, preferably with a whisk until the mixture is smooth (some small clumps are fine).
  3. Add more water, if you wish the mixture to be thinner (optional)
  4. Remove from flame and let it cool.
  5. Place the Sea Moss into a blender; on high speed, blend for about 1 minute until the mixture is creamy (optional).
  6. Place the Sea Moss into an airtight container or mason jar and refrigerate. The sea moss gel will thicken in the fridge after approximately 2 hours.
